PepsiCo’s Robot for College Students – Snackbot

PepsiCo, the well-known Beverage company, has come up with a rolling bot to serve college students.

As a part of a pilot program, the self-driving snackbots have been deployed on the campus of the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California on January 3rd 2019.

The autonomous snack delivery robot is right away when the students feel hungry during the college time. Instead of going to a vending machine or cafeteria in college in short breaks of few minutes, snackbot offers a handy way to order their snacks and cold drinks from anywhere in the campus.

The snacks delivery robots carry snacks and beverages from the company Hello Goodness. Their fleet of snackbots are the first robots from a major food and beverage company in the USA which offers tasty and healthy snacks and beverages to students.

This includes a variety of food choices like smartfood delight popcorn, baked lays, pure leaf tea, Starbucks cold brew drinks etc. They can place their order snacks and cold beverages using a smartphone app. The bot then delivers the order at one of 50 locations within the 175-acre campus during college hours 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

The snackbot is quite identical to the other existing delivery machines. These rolling bots have capacity to travel upto 20 miles on a single time charge. They are equipped with headlights and a camera. To deliver the order to students, the robot open its green lid to allow them to pick their order from the delivery tray.

So, what’s better than this for students if they are hungry and want to have a healthy and convenient snack time.

For students like us it’s really hard to find time between breaks to get hold of something to eat. To have such facility in our campus would be great.

    Amazing… What a concept
