Google’s New A.I. Experiment: AutoDraw
Not everybody is a born artist. Many people when asked to draw a tiger end up drawing a dog. This made you recall the pictures that you drew when you were in school. Isn’t it?
Drawing makes our eyes observant and brain alive. When it comes to drawing on a piece of paper, it is easy but drawing on computer, tablet or a smart phone was not so easy earlier. Google’s recent A.I. Experiment AutoDraw launched on 12th April 2017 now lets you draw anything with your freehand and turns it into a neat drawing based on what you intend to draw.
The idea behind AutoDraw is Machine Learning for which Google has created a collection of drawings from talented artists and designers. AutoDraw lets you draw anything and as soon as you take your cursor off from drawing pad, it analyses the pattern of your drawing and displays all drawings that closely match with that of yours.
The best thing about AutoDraw is its neat interface. Even if you are a non-technical person, you would love to play around on it with freehand drawing. You just have to follow your imagination and you will see that you are not less than an artist. It’s drawing options are similar to other drawing and painting software but it is much faster and smarter than any of these as it automatically detects what you are creating.
While browsing on internet about AutoDraw, I also tried my hands drawing pictures of a house, a vulture, a bicycle, a tiger and many more and believe me, it’s really fun. To get an experience yourself, goto autodraw website, choose AutoDraw menu → Start over, select the drawing pad layout and start drawing. So, if you draw something like this, you will see a number of drawing suggestions.
Even if you are not very precise about corners and curves of your drawing, you can see that the picture that you thought of drawing is there in the suggestions. Clicking on the suggested picture will transform your drawing into a nicely drawn picture with appropriate features, shape and right corners.
AutoDraw is for everyone: a mother who wishes to teach her kid about different shapes, animals, birds or vehicles or a person who is fond of drawing and painting or elderly person who wishes to keep himself engaged can take on some hobby with AutoDraw.
AutoDraw is playful for children too. They can design their own birthday party invitations by adding pictures and text of their choice; they can utilize their holidays for creating notebook stickers or bookmarks or they can use it to make hand-made greeting cards. Anybody can use it to make creative wall hangings or posters and save these in his creative collection.
You can add customized text, fill color and save your drawings on your computer, tablet or smart phone. AutoDraw also lets you download and share your creations:
- Whatever you create with AutoDraw can be shared online with your friends by choosing AutoDraw menu → Share.
- You can also download it from AutoDraw menu → Download.
